Re: Path of Exile Preview
Nice review. I think PoE will do quite nicely. I leveled a few characters to 50+ before decided I was going to wait until release before sinking too much more time into it.

Re: Path of Exile Preview
It's trash, ever since they started the "donation" and had fake donors advertising in the forum.

Re: Path of Exile Preview
Never noticed any problems with fake donors etc.
Anyways, the game is awesome, played to 55 on my character on hardcore, and having a blast. Currently messing around with some alts and figuring the game out even better so i can level much quicker. Overall think the game is great, and actually not going to be getting D3. I like being able to create whatever class I like, blizz thinks everyone wants to min/max, maybe I just want to play a fun build. Customization is cool, the item structure and gem system is unique and fun. Last time I played the game i thought it was fun, but didn't really get as into it, but now after latest changes I'm pretty well hooked.

Re: Path of Exile Preview
I beg to differ.
Items affixes are boring, the skill tree is absolute trash, skills are extremely lackluster, characters are ugly as hell, monsters are re-used and boring.

Re: Path of Exile Preview
I think you have to remember that they have plans for adding many many more skills and monster models. I think what they have right now is a great base which just needs a little
more variety.
The skill tree is my favorite part of the game and I like it more than any single feature in D3. I will play the game just because of the skill tree.

Re: Path of Exile Preview
same here. I think that has me sold. looks pretty unique. the gem system is pretty interesting too and I'm looking forward to seeing how the economy works on the barter system.
i predict ppl will resist this game at first but, if you're truly looking for content and variety in an ARPG this could be promising and no reason not to have an open mind and give it a try. game companies are always best when they have less money to work with and need to put out the best game they can to build a name.
this is why Blizz takes SO much s%#t on there forums cause they're a huge company and secure with there place in the market ...

Re: Path of Exile Preview
Yesterday I decided it's PoE time again. I got in beta Autumn -11 and last time I played was in early Spring -12. The game has improved since. I haven't read the patch details but the game has more response/feel now. And of course the passives map has improved a lot along with more skills to use.
I leveled Templar to lvl20 on one sitting (minus fecesbook etc., coffee and foods) and after 1st death on spiders and their nasty stacking venom I realised I must go to sleep. So the time flew. A note on skills; not dull at all. If compared to D2 (can't compare to D3 where I've played WD only ie. no skull bashing) it's like playing a Charger using Berserk while blasting Frost Novas, all of mentioned skills doing kills. And I've only got 1 support gem so far meaning I'm still using basic skill sets without the possible combos.
And Auras! My favorite character in D2 is auradin so naturally I'm happy to use them in PoE. No area damaging, though. Unless some support gem enables this.
Items. Here I can compare to D3 and PoE does it so much better. There are 2 types of item finds; the regular for rare hunt and other type for skill gem/orb hunt. At this point I'm using the latter hunting white items (weapon and shield) with 4 properly linked sockets. There's an orb that can then transform white to rare. So by sacrificing straight mf I can get more skill/support skill and orb drops that alter item properties, sockets, links between sockets, rarity, quality and whatnot.
