    Chaos inoculation in open beta? Viable? lvl 71 shadow perspective

    Video about the nerfs coming in Open Beta tommorow for Chaos inoculation and how they will affect melee CI speccs.

    Summary for my character :
    • 3 extra ES nodes next to new Chaos Inoculation = loss in dps because 3 extra points in defense
    • 5 extra ES nodes(atleast) to replace/make up for Discipline nerf = loss in dps
    • Granite flasks nerfed from 10k to 4k = lot more damage taken
    • Chaos damage now substracted from energy shield. = lot more damage taken
    • Less damage overall = less life leech = more damage taken.

    You should also count the points that you will spend to reach "Keystone 126" which is near Elemental Equilibrium (roughly 10 points for a Shadow). That keystone converts life regen (I assume both passive and from flasks) into ES regen.

    On the other hand, currently players can get only 12 skill points from quests, but in OB that number will rise to 21.

    And CI nerf is a must. I find it ridiculous that a character can spend only ~20 points on defensive nodes and safely destroy almost any threat. The spec will remain viable, but it won't be the obvious #1 option for all Witches/Shadows.

    Just read patch nodes! Chaos Inoculation now grants no additional energy shield bonus. Its complete immunity to chaos damage, synergy with Blood Rage and other skill combos are deemed sufficient upside to counteract the life penalty.
    Still chaos immune woot!

    Revisiting the concept of CI viability. Many would say after some time with post CB player nerfs that CI is only viable if you simply have to prove it can work. From a practicality standpoint it is no longer viable. Many better players than I have tested this. YMMV

    I'v been really having a hard time with my shadow building up to CI, don't know if I will be changing to CI soon and i'm already lvl 66.
