I'm about to. Or at least to give it a shot. I don't really have much time for games, but I looked at this a bit today and it seemed neat. Since it was free, I figured why not, and am downloading it as I type this.
Looks a bit overwhelming at first, and sounds like its still pretty glitchy, so I'll see how it goes. I think the overall look of it is more D2 than D3 was though, and it looked promising at least. From what I've seen. Cash shops and stuff always worry me though.
It looks a bit overwhelming. Can you basically do a lot of the same stuff with a Templar or a duelist or a marauder, only you have different passive skill tree options you focus on a bit? ie: the characters seem a bit undefined to me for now. Maybe that will clear up once I've played some.
It looks like a pretty neat game though, if they can clean it up some and get away with continuing to support it while not succumbing to microtransactions.
Don't know if I'll stick around. I'm probably way too excited about a game I have yet to play that's still in beta, and seems to have a few problems that need fixing, while I'm too busy in RL. But if I do I'd definitely be up for playing with you guys at some point. I looked over their forums a bit and, while they seem to have some nice people, they seem to have a lot more people tossing bile around for no reason.
Edit: Finished download and started playing, character is Idisa, on HC (till I die...) and Americas. Fun so far, but definitely clunkier than D3. Much better atmosphere though.

I'm playing a summoner/arc witch, currently level 72 and doing maps. Looking forward to maybe doing maps with some other incgamers guys, because there's no way in heck I'm doing maps with pubbies - just been soloing them so far.

Re: Who's playing Path Of Exile
Characters aren't bound by regions, right? I might be interested in doing maps, assuming the ping isn't too bad. Also I need to level some more, just got to lvl 60. Also 2k life in A2 hell :/

Re: Who's playing Path Of Exile
Just started playing yesterday. It feels a bit clunky, but the atmosphere is just so much better then D3. It really feels like a solid game, and I look forward to play it some more. I just downloaded it, without reading anything about it. So I look forward to make many noob mistakes and be pleasantly surprised several times while I play through the game for the first time.
I'm not at my computer now, but I'm fairly sure that my Character name is: "NameAlreadyExistsHUE" and I play on the european server.

Re: Who's playing Path Of Exile
2k is more life than I have. 2.5k if you count my energy shield, but obviously as melee you need it more.
No characters aren't bound by regions. You don't even need to connect to the US gateway. When I zone into instances created by people connected to the US gateway, my ping is 60-70. When I zone into instances created by people on the EU gateway my ping is 180-200. One assumes approximately the reverse would be true for you.
I added you to my friends list. I think DickScotchfist is almost exactly the same level/progress as you. I don't want to post his ID without his permission, but I'll suggest he adds himself to this thread.

Re: Who's playing Path Of Exile
I have no idea why you would think the community is vile. It has one of the most helpful and supportive communities I've ever seen, both on forums and in game. Of course there will be idiots and trolls, you can't escape that, but 95% of the time you will get help and answers when you ask in global chat or forums.
Also pretty much everyone is very supportive of the developers and gives constructive criticism and suggestions, and more often than not they get direct replies from the devs regarding the issue.
I've yet to see another developer work with the players as much as they do, fixing bugs and implementing new stuff.

Re: Who's playing Path Of Exile
I guess I just had a different experience than you did, maybe it has to do with time of day or region. All I know is that when I posted on the forums (in a thread that is now deleted) about a problem launching the game, the most common reply I got was "go back to D3 f****t" and "its beta, you retard." In game, other than the WoW trade channel type nonsense that exists pretty much everywhere that has a global chat, I was frustrated that answers to legitimate questions were always either answered with trolling or with "this is not a game for casuals, go back to D3 [insert slur here]."

Re: Who's playing Path Of Exile
Yeah, I got that impression too from their forum and in-game. There seems to be way too much hate on d3/wow because they're d3/wow. I don't like either of those two games much, and I especially dislike what blizzard did to d3, but there's no need for these guys to become so obnoxious/monotonously repetitive about it and or about how "hard core" they are.
This is a generalization, of course. It certainly doesn't apply to everyone.

Re: Who's playing Path Of Exile
Well, I'm giving this game a whirl. Played closed beta very briefly a while back, before D3 came out, and then got sucked into that. Taking a break (maybe?) from D3 to check this out for a bit. So far, it's been fun. Will probably be on most of tonight.
